4 Days/ 3 Nights MANU CULTURAL AREA

Itinerary

1st day: Cusco – Cloudy Forest – Pilcopata

Departure from Cusco early in the morning at approximately 6:30 AM in our private mini bus and we continue through the Andean mountains, making many stops at different places. Ninamarka is one of these places, we stop here to appreciate the pre-Inca chullpas and then we will arrive to the town of Paucartambo, which we will also visit.
At noon we will have our lunch at Acjanaco, which is the entrance to the Manu National Park and a point of descent into the cloud forest or rainforest, from here we can appreciate the dwarf forest rich in orchids and get the mystical cloud forest where you can appreciate the vegetation Rich in ferns, cecropias, etc. At the same time you can see a wide variety of birds.
This afternoon we arrive at our comfortable hostel located in the cloud forest where we will spend the night. Night walk is optional.

2nd day: Pilcopata – Atalaya – Lodge

Before sunrise we leave the lodge towards the shelter platform where we can observe the ritual of the Cock of the Rocks, a symbol of Peru and of particular beauty. Back to the lodge we ready to continue our trip to the port of Atalaya. On the way we can visit coca plantations that are cultivated by local families. When we arrive at the port of destination our motorized boat will be waiting so that after having loaded our things we will sail down the Alto Madre de Dios river. From the boat you can see different types of birds such as herons, vultures, parrots, etc. The lunch we do in the warm waters Shintuya where at the same time we can enjoy the hot or cold natural hot springs. Then we will continue sailing down the river to the lodge. After setting up we will have a walk in the afternoon and part of the night through our trails near the lodge in search of interesting insects, arachnids and others. Dinner at the hostel, then we will spend the night in the hostel in comfortable beds with mosquito nets.

3rd day: Lodge – Guacamayos Collpa

This morning after an early breakfast we will leave for our first camp called the Quebrada Aguas Negras. The walk is 4 hours on average and with a distance of 7 kilometers approximately. During this walk we will pass through primary and secondary jungles, having the opportunity to learn about medicinal and industrial trees, their uses and commercialization, at the same time we have the opportunity to observe wildlife. Arriving at the camp we will settle in comfortable tents conditioned with mattresses under the roof of our tambo. At night we will hike to a small clay lick to observe mammals such as tapir, ronsoco, etc. Our trail system offers different hiking alternatives, including hunting for alligators, tarantula nests and other dazzling nocturnal species.
Overnight at the camp.

4th day: Lodge – Atalaya – Cusco

We leave the camp early in the morning to return to the lodge, this morning the walk back is more direct, always watching and looking for other opportunities to see wildlife along the way, we arrive at the lodge in mid-morning hours.
After a short break we will take the boat and sail up the river back to the shintuya port or watchtower where our land transport will be waiting for us to return to Cusco, we will be arriving in Cusco in the early hours of the night.
