Itinerary

Day 1.-Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata National Reserve

A staff representative will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to Wasaí Maldonado Ecolodge in Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival you will receive a delicious juice from the region. After a brief explanation of the tour, you will be transferred to the port where you will embark in a motor boat to go to the Wasaí Tambopata Lodge located in the Tambopata National Reserve. Depending on the conditions of the Tambopata River, the crossing takes between 3 ½ – 4 hours.
During the tour you can see different species of birds and mammals that inhabit the Tambopata River, such as capybaras, caimans, turtles and oropendolas.
Upon arrival at Wasaí Lodge Tambopata the staff will welcome you and accommodate you in their bungalow.
After a short break, your guide will give you some important information to make your stay in the jungle comfortable and safe. In an introductory way, they will make a nocturnal walk to see some of the species of insects that inhabit the Amazon and to observe the nocturnal life of the forest. Day 2.- Collpa de Loros – Aventura Amazonas

Very early in the morning, the adventure begins, you will make a half-hour walk to visit the Cat Parrot Collpa. The visit allows to see several species of parrots and macaws as well as different species of birds and animals of the Tambopata Reserve. You can fish and visit a local family to see the lifestyle and how the people of the Amazon adapts to their surroundings taking advantage of the forest.
Visit the waterfalls of the Gato River and return to the lodge at mid-morning for breakfast.
After a break, a canoe ride in favor of the stream along the Tambopata River, those who prefer to do it in personal or bipersonal kayaks. This is an activity that does not require physical effort and can be performed by people of all ages. During the activity you can enjoy beautiful natural scenery as well as observe exotic birds on the banks of the river. If conditions permit you can bathe in some of the beaches of the Tambopata River. lunch
At the beginning of the afternoon we will go on an ethno botanical walk towards the swamp area, where “Aventura Amazonas” is located. The path offers the opportunity to see giant trees, to contemplate the great biodiversity that offers us the Amazon forest of both flora and fauna, will learn from our guides the secrets of Amazon plants and their medicinal uses.
When arriving at Aventura Amazonas, you will be able to realize different activities like: to fish in the borders of the swamp, to cross it using tirolinas of 50 to 100 m. Of length adapted to different degrees of height, to pass hanging bridges or suspended walkways between the foliage or simply to relax enjoying a natural environment of great beauty.

Day 3.- Lake Sandoval.

After breakfast we will start our return by the Tambopata River to the WASAÍ Maldonado Ecolodge, where we will leave our luggage, we will have lunch and we will rest briefly. Then we will transfer again by boat for 30 minutes to Lake Sandoval. We will have a 3 km walk to the shores of the lake where we will board a canoe for a rowing tour, enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wild fauna of the lake, such as fishermen, herons, monkeys, exotic birds …… with a Little luck we will see the family of river wolves (giant otters) that inhabit the lake. We will have the opportunity to bathe in the waters of the lake with safety. We will observe the transition from day to night, progressively the sounds of birds and diurnal insects will give way to the sounds of the night. Then we will start the return to the Madre de Dios and Puerto Maldonado rivers. After dinner we can rest or walk around the city on foot or by bicycles, Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this cozy city. Overnight at WASAI Maldonado Ecolodge (D, A, C)

Day 4.- Return to Puerto Maldonado

Farewell breakfast and free morning until transfer to the airport.
